An essential part of Christian theology is Christ's resurrection - the fact that he did indeed rise from the dead after three days. Jesus' rising from the dead is a core fact on which our prayers, and our faith, hope, and charity are based. If not for Christ's coming to Earth, and suffering, dying, and being resurrected for us all, we would not have the eternal hope of being saved from sin and being reborn into Heaven when we die. 1 Corinthians 15 talks about Christ's resurrection. 1Cor:15 demonstrates how we will be changed when Jesus comes back to take His people to the place He has prepared for them.
At times, various non-believers come forth claiming they can "prove" that Christ was not resurrected. The efforts of these disbelievers are in vain. Simply refuting that Jesus Christ rose from the dead does not make it so.
For proof of Christ's resurrection and glorious ascension into Heaven, where he sits at the right hand of His Father, see:
The Old Testament told us He would arise from the dead. Read Genesis Chapter 3, Verse 15, and then read 1 John Chapter 3, Verse 8. A dead man would not be able to "destroy the works of the devil" or "bruise his head." Review Psalm Chapter 16, Verses 8-11, and then the Acts of the Apostles (Acts), Chapter 2, Verses 24-28. King David told us God's Holy One will not "see corruption." Moses says in Deuteronomy 18:15-19 that God will raise up a Prophet from among us and that we are to obey His commands or face judgment from God. Compare Isaiah 53:10 with John 1:29. The Son of God, Jesus Christ, was to see His seed...and the Lord's pleasures shall prosper in His hand. This is a man who died and was resurrected. These passages and others indicate the Old Testament saints were expecting God's Son to die for us and for our sins, and to rise from the dead and be seated at God's right hand.
During his time on Earth, Jesus Christ told the apostles of His impending death - and of His resurrection. Reference the Gospel passages Matthew Chapter 3 Verse 40, Mark Chapter 8 Verse 31, and John Chapter 2 Verses 19 and 20. Certainly Jesus the Christ would be aware of His fate, of His impending suffering, death, and resurrection. How many people have we met who would be brave enough to tell us that after they die they will come up out of the grave? The only person who could fulfill this promise would be one who resurrected the deceased. Christ raised the dead on at least three occasions, as documented in the first four books of the New Testament (the Gospels of Jesus Christ).
The angels announced Christ's resurrection after He rose from the dead.Reflect on the Gospels passages Matthew Chapter 28, Verses 1 to 8, Mark Chapter 16, Verses 1 to 8, and Luke Chapter 24, Verses 1 to 9. Women went to the grave of Jesus on the third day after His death and found His body missing. At this time angels informed the women that Christ had risen from the dead. The stories in each of these Gospel accounts are a little different, but the message is the same. Carefully reviewing these Gospel passages will illuminate the reason for the slight variances between them.
A number of people saw Christ risen from the dead after being placed in the grave. See 1 Corinthians Chapter 15, Verses 5-8, for one report of several hundred who saw Jesus after He rose from the dead. The apostles did not believe that Jesus rose at the first report. Until they saw Him with their own eyes, they did not believe He arose from the dead. Christ appeared to people after His resurrection for 40 days before He ascended into heaven. After this Christ appeared and witnessed to Saul of Tarsus, converting him to Paul, and He appeared to John the apostle.
He is alive today. Christ Jesus lives today, and will not ever die again. He is the same in our day and age as He was when He walked the dusty roads and paths of Israel. Just as Jesus performed miracles as recorded in the Gospels, He is today still performing miracles in our lives. Whatever difficulties we face, we can face them with strength and faith in Christ Jesus and His eternal presence in our lives. The strength, power, and majesty of Christ awaits you!
